Taking It Back - Statement Dangles

Taking It Back is the first artwork I've painted since grief pretty much took my creativity offline.

There's no huge complicated story behind what I painted. I didn't sit down trying to make something meaningful.

I just wanted to paint again.

Colour, marks, layers, movement  following whatever felt good instead of worrying about what the finished piece was supposed to become.

And somehow that makes this one pretty bloody meaningful anyway.

The original artwork has been painted directly onto acrylic before being cut into earrings, so every pair captures a different little section of the larger piece. Some will have more of one colour, some more of another. The marks will fall differently.

No two pairs are the same

Each pair is essentially its own tiny piece of Taking It Back

The first artwork in what I'm hoping is a whole new chapter of creating again.

Not going back.
